Power Supplies

These power supplies were designed to replace the Naim FlatCap/HiCap/SuperCap and XPS in Naim Audio systems. They provide advantages over the original products at fraction of the cost.

Comparing with the original Naim power supplies, these power supplies will provide a higher level of resolution, better transparency, more details, better soundstage, deeper and more controlled bass:

"Bass is tight and very deep, with the higher scales well defined and vocals crystal clear. Drum solos are amazing - you can now actually define the drum being used. It retains, but more so, even enhances the 'PRAT' that Naim are renowned for." Read more testimonials.

These power supplies have a major advantage over the original Naim products, they don't require maintenance or recapping. If you buy a used HiCap or XPS it will most likely require recapping. The performance of the large electrolytic capacitors used by the HiCap or XPS degrade over time and they need to be replaced every 10 years or so. Recapping is an expensive operation that requires sending the power supply for servicing.

The power supply has a major role in sound quality, in many cases more than the circuit design and the component choice. People often ask themselves whether they should replace their preamplifiers or buy a power supply. Most Naim preamplifiers are based on the same amplification circuitry and differ in their ability to connect more/better power supplies.

The TeddyCap product family is the fruit of several years of design and intensive tests, read more about the TeddyCap under the hood.

Several variants of the TeddyCap power supply are available, offering different combinations of multi HiCap/Napsc functionality in a single case. The following table summarizes the differences between the models.

2x24V (hicap) sockets 18V (Napsc) sockets 4-pin audio sockets* Burndy (XPS) sockets
TeddyCap 1 - 1 -
TeddyCapPlus 1 1 2 -
DualTeddyCap 2 1 2 -
TeddyXPS - - - 1

* The TeddyCap has a 4-pin audio sockets which can be used to connect Naim preamplifiers according to the Naim scheme, that is, the audio signal is routed from the pre amplifier to the power amplifier via the power supply. The TeddyCapPlus and DualTeddyCap have two 4-pin audio sockets allowing to connect two power amplifiers (such as the NAP135).

The TeddyCap/TeddyXPS power supplies are housed in the same elegant black anodized aluminum case, equipped with a green LED to match Naim systems.

All the power supplies which are currently sold are mk3 version. The design of these power supplies is based on the SuperTeddyReg, a very effective regulator that provides a super clean and stable DC to the equipment. Read more about the SuperTeddyReg.

Note that that the power supplies are sold without a mains power cord. Thanks to the high filtering capabilities of these power supplies any standard cable can be used.

All models can be preconfigured to work at 110-120V or 220-240V.

The TeddyCap History:
